Dr. Sono Khangharani

Chairperson

Dr. Sono Khangharani is Chief Executive Officer of Thardeep Microfinance Foundation (licensed non-banking finance company), working in Sindh. Dr. Sono Joined National Rural Support Program (NRSP) & worked in various offices of the organization across Pakistan. He is a member of the ‘International Dalit Solidarity Network” against caste discrimination and represents Pakistan every year in UN Human Rights Council sessions on food security, environment, and poverty alleviation.

Dr. Sono has been on Mojaz Foundation’s board since 2008 and since then has been providing strategic guidance and leadership to the organization.  Additionally, Sono Khangharani has worked extensively on microfinance and natural resource management, environmental sustainability, child rights, disaster management and social entrepreneurship. In recognition of his services and accomplishments in the rural development sector, he has been awarded Tamgha-i-Imtiaz – the highest civilian honor in Pakistan- by the Government of Pakistan in 2009-10.

Mr. Syed Nazr Ali Jaffri

Vice Chairperson

Mr.Syed Nazr Ali holds a degree in Business Administration, which he completed in 2008. He is currently serving as the Head of Cash Management & ATM Monitoring at the National Bank of Pakistan, one of the country’s top AAA-rated banks. With extensive experience in branch banking, he has held various supervisory roles throughout his career, consistently contributing to the growth and efficiency of the banking sector. His expertise and leadership skills have enabled him to play a key role in shaping financial operations and strategies.

Since joining the Board of Directors in 2017, Mr. Jaffri has demonstrated a strong commitment to bringing innovation and operational improvements to the organization. His passion for driving change within the sector, coupled with his deep understanding of banking functions, allows him to make significant contributions to the strategic direction of the company.

Ms. Rattan Kaur Chawala

CEO and Secretary, Mojaz Foundation

Mrs. Rattan Kaur Chawla has MSc. (Hons.) in “Human Nutrition” from the University of Agriculture, Peshawar-Pakistan. Her research focused on “Formulation and nutritional evaluation of dietary supplements prepared for pregnant women from locally available food ingredients. She is an educationist and a Gold Medalist.  Being a BOD member since 2017, she has been providing nutritional advice in a variety of settings to various programs to improve health and wellbeing of poor and marginalized communities.

She has supported Mojaz Foundation in setting up linkages with the government and with the donor organizations to secure funding and support otherwise.  Keeping in view her contributions to the organization, the board of the Mojaz Foundation appointed her as Chief Executive Officer in June 2018.

Mr. Irfan Khokhar

Member

Mr. Irfan Khokhar began his career with the Rural Community Development Organization (RCDS) and has been actively working in the development sector since 1998. His research on the Impact Assessment of Microfinance interventions in rural and urban areas of District Nankana, Punjab, laid the foundation for his future work. His early experience and research shaped his expertise in the field of rural development and microfinance, guiding his long-term contributions to the sector.

In 2005, he founded the Farmers’ Friend Organization (FFO), where he currently serves as Chief Executive Officer. Under his leadership, FFO has made significant strides in supporting farmers and rural communities. Mr. Khokhar has also been a valuable member of the Mojaz Foundation’s board since 2011, where he continues to contribute his extensive knowledge and experience in rural development and microfinance.

Ms. Gulnaz Parveen

Member

Ms. Gulnaz Parveen holds an MPhil in Sociology and a Postgraduate degree in Gender & Women Studies. She has extensive experience working with various civil society organizations in roles such as Project Manager, Training/Advocacy Coordinator, and Community Mobilization Officer. Throughout her career, her work has primarily focused on women empowerment, child protection, and community development, areas she remains deeply passionate about.

Since joining the board in 2015, Ms. Gulnaz Parveen has played a key role in supporting Mojaz Foundation’s gender-focused initiatives. Her expertise and dedication have significantly contributed to the foundation’s efforts in advancing gender equality and community welfare, strengthening the foundation’s impact in these areas.

Ms. Fatima Batool

Member

Ms. Fatima Batool is a seasoned professional with 12 years of experience in the public and development sectors. A graduate in Economics from Government College University (GCU) Lahore, she has worked at divisional headquarters in Lahore, Faisalabad, and Sargodha, specializing in public administration. Her expertise includes planning and implementing public schemes, legal advisory, financial and human resource management, and public affairs coordination. Ms. Batool has also collaborated on various projects with international NGOs and UN agencies, showcasing her adaptability and dedication to development.

She has played a key role in preparing multiple PC-1s for the Government of Punjab and contributed to the creation of the province’s first curriculum and assessment system for the non-formal basic education sector. Her work in agriculture marketing has further expanded her impact. As a board member of Mojaz Foundation, Ms. Batool provides strategic insight and sectoral expertise, committed to driving positive change for rural communities.

Mr. Sajjad Imran

Member

Mr. Sajjad Imran is a strategic leader in international development with extensive experience managing high-impact, sustainable projects across Pakistan, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Central Asia. He has held key roles such as Country Director and Advisor, specializing in education, nutrition, governance, and humanitarian relief. Sajjad is skilled in building partnerships with donors, government bodies, and implementing partners, having managed portfolios exceeding USD 25 million annually.

With a Master’s in Rural Sociology and ongoing PHD research, he has led major initiatives with renowned organizations like USAID, DFID, UN, and World Bank. Sajjad’s expertise includes strategy development, project design, and monitoring and evaluation. His work has contributed to transformative outcomes in public policy, food security, and education reforms in challenging environments.
