Consultant for Multi-Hazard Vulnerability & Capacity Assessment (MHVCA)

Position Overview:

MOJAZ Foundation is implementing the PPAF-funded project “Restoring Social Services and Climate Resilience” in UCs Mahata Jhedu & Shehli Gharbi, Tehsil Chishtian, District Bahawalnagar.

We are seeking an experienced Consultant to conduct a Multi-Hazard Vulnerability & Capacity Assessment (MHVCA) to evaluate disaster risks, vulnerabilities, and resilience in the target communities.

Scope of Work:

The consultant will be responsible for:

  • Identifying and assessing physical, social, and economic vulnerabilities of communities in UCs Mahata Jhedu & Shehli Gharbi to multiple hazards, including floods, landslides, and other climate risks.
  • Conducting hazard mapping, analyzing historical trends, and projecting future risks.
  • Collecting and analyzing data on demographics, social structures, economic activities, and geographical characteristics of the targeted areas.
  • Analyzing collected data to identify key vulnerabilities, trends, and risks, and providing evidence-based recommendations for risk reduction, disaster preparedness, and resilience-building strategies tailored to the local context.
  • Engaging local leaders, institutions, and social networks to gather community insights and ensure disaster preparedness strategies are inclusive and community-driven.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree or higher in Environmental Sciences, Climate Change, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the development sector, particularly in disaster-prone regions.
  • Proven expertise in multi-hazard vulnerability and capacity assessments.
  • At least 5 years of experience in Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Climate Change Adaptation (CCA), and resilience-building.
