Duration of Assignment: 4 Days
1. Background
Mojaz Foundation is implementing the UN Women supported Gender Parity Project (GPP) in Islamabad, aimed at strengthening gender responsive justice systems and promoting women’s participation in Justice Sector Institutions (JSIs), particularly the judiciary and law enforcement.
As part of efforts to enhance women’s representation in the judiciary, the project will conduct targeted capacity-building sessions for young women lawyers, focusing on improving their awareness, knowledge, and readiness to pursue judicial careers.
2. Objective of the Assignment
The objective of this assignment is to design and deliver two (02) interactive sessions for young women lawyers to:
• Enhance understanding of judicial career pathways in Pakistan
• Provide clarity on eligibility criteria, examinations, and selection processes
• Build participants’ confidence and preparedness
• Encourage and motivate women to pursue careers in the judiciary
3. Scope of Work
The consultant/trainer will be responsible for:
A. Training Design
• Develop session plans for two (02) capacity-building sessions
• Design content covering:
• Structure and functioning of the judiciary
• Judicial service rules and recruitment processes
• Examination preparation guidance
• Required competencies and career progression pathways
• Barriers faced by women and strategies to overcome them
• Prepare training materials (presentations, handouts, etc.)
B. Training Delivery
• Conduct two (02) sessions in Islamabad
• Each session will target young women lawyers (as identified by Mojaz Foundation)
• Deliver sessions using interactive and participatory methods
• Facilitate discussions, Q&A, and experience sharing
C. Methodology
Apply adult learning and participatory approaches
Use:
• Real-life insights from legal/judicial practice
• Practical guidance and examples
• Motivational elements and peer learning
D. Reporting & Documentation
• Share all training materials with Mojaz Foundation
• Submit brief reports for each session, including:
• Number and profile of participants
• Key discussion points
• Recommendations and observations
4. Deliverables
Session plans and training materials
Two (02) training sessions conducted
Session-wise brief reports
Any supporting materials shared with participants
5. Duration of Assignment
The assignment will be completed within the project implementation timeline, as agreed with Mojaz Foundation.
6. Required Qualifications & Experience
• LLB/LLM or equivalent qualification in Law
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in:
• Legal practice, judicial services, or legal education
• Training or mentoring young lawyers
• Strong understanding of:
• Judicial recruitment systems in Pakistan
• Gender barriers in the legal profession
• Preferred:
• Experience working with young women lawyers
Prior experience with donor-funded or UN projects
7. Reporting & Coordination
The consultant will report to Mojaz Foundation and coordinate with relevant stakeholders, including training institutions where applicable.
