Beneficiaries training on human rights, women’s rights, gender-based violence (GBV), rights and responsibilities, and linkages development organized by Mojaz Foundation under the project
These are comprehensive reflections following the recent training session on human rights, women’s rights, gender-based violence (GBV), rights and responsibilities, and linkages development.
This enlightening session was organized by the esteemed MOJAZ Foundation and generously funded by PPAF as an integral part of the RSS&CR project held on 12 Dec, 2024 in Basti Takhwana UC Mahta Jhedu Tehsil Chishtaian District Bahawalnagar at community level. The experience was not only informative but also transformative, prompting to delve deeper into the critical issues surrounding girls’ rights, education and linkages development.
Mr. Imran Ilyas as a former councilor representing the village of Jhedowan UC Mahta Jhedu. He has always held a passionate commitment to advocating for the rights and welfare of our community members. Mr. Imran Ilyas’s journey in this realm has been guided by a profound belief in the principles of equality and justice.
However, this training has significantly broadened his perspective and deepened his understanding of the vital role that girls’ rights play in shaping a more just and equitable society. Mr. Imran Ilyas has underscored the fact and reality that education is not merely a personal achievement; rather, it is a powerful catalyst for social change and empowerment.
Throughout the training sessions, the discussions and insights presented by the facilitators highlighted a crucial point: educating girls is not just an individual endeavor; it is a collective responsibility that we all share. The evidence presented during the sessions made it abundantly clear that girls who receive an education are more likely to break free from the shackles of poverty, contribute meaningfully to their communities, and become advocates for their own rights and the rights of others. This realization was both inspiring and motivating, reinforcing his commitment to championing girls’ education in our community.
Throughout the sessions, it became increasingly clear that educating girls is not just a matter of personal growth but a crucial step towards fostering a more equitable society. Girls equipped with education are more likely to break the cycle of poverty, contribute positively to their communities, and advocate for their own rights and the rights of others.
One particular story that resonated deeply with him during the training was that of a young girl named Sonia, the daughter of M. Sadeeq. At the tender age of 10, Sonia faced daunting obstacles that prevented her from accessing education, primarily due to her family’s challenging financial circumstances.
It was heart-wrenching to learn about the barriers she faced, which are unfortunately all too common in many communities. However, Mr. Imran Ilyas, a dedicated advocate for change, recognized Sonia’s potential and took it upon himself to make a difference in her life.
Mr. Imran Ilyas’s unwavering commitment to education led him to approach Sonia’s father, engaging him in a meaningful dialogue about the importance of education for his daughter. Through his persuasive efforts, Mr. Imran Ilyas was able to convince her father to enroll Sonia in the nearest local government girls’ school.
This act of advocacy not only opened doors for Sonia but also demonstrated the power of community engagement and support in overcoming systemic barriers to education.
In addition to facilitating Sonia’s enrollment, Mr. Imran Ilyas went above and beyond by providing her with essential supplies that would enable her to thrive in her studies. He generously offered her a school bag, stationery, notebooks, syllabus books, a uniform, and all other necessary items to ensure that she had everything she needed for a successful start to her educational journey.
Mr. Imran Ilyas was delighted to share that Sonia is now attending class Nursery at the Non Formal Basic Education Learning Center (NFBE department) Federal Girls School in Kabeer Kot Kameeran, located in Tehsil Chishtian, District Bahawalnagar.
Moreover, Mr. Imran Ilyas has made a heartfelt commitment to provide Sonia with ongoing social, financial, and moral support throughout her educational journey. This type of sustained support is crucial, as it not only fosters a positive learning environment for Sonia but also instills in her a sense of confidence and determination to succeed.
Thanks to Mr. Imran Ilyas’s intervention, Sonia is now flourishing in her studies and is filled with gratitude for both Mr. Imran Ilyas and the MOJAZ Foundation, whose support has made such a profound difference in her life. Her father, too, has expressed his heartfelt thanks, recognizing the invaluable assistance they have received.
This experience serves as a powerful testament to the impact of our collective efforts in promoting girls’ education and empowerment. It highlights the importance of community involvement and the role that each of us can play in fostering a supportive environment for girls to pursue their educational aspirations.
As we reflect on Sonia’s journey, Mr. Imran Ilyas believe it is essential to document her story as a case study. By sharing her experiences, we can inspire others to take action and advocate for girls facing similar challenges in their pursuit of education and empowerment.
Mr. Imran Ilyas told, it is my hope that by highlighting Sonia’s success, we can galvanize further initiatives and support for girls in our community and beyond.
At the end Mr. Imran Ilyas was thankful for taking the time to document the reflections and look forward to the opportunity to discuss this matter further and explore collaborative ways in which we can enhance our impact on girls’ education within our community. Mr. Imran Ilyas expressed that together, I believe we can create a brighter future for the next generation.
Sonia and her father Mr. Sadeeq also was very thankful to MOJAZ Foundation and PPAF to providing such type of opportunities for the marginalized communities at their door step.
Mojaz Foundation journey began with a vision—a society where every individual enjoys dignity, security, and a high quality of life. Over the years, we have become a beacon of hope for communities in remote and marginalized districts of Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), and Punjab in Pakistan.
