Empowering Education: A Journey of Advocay and Change
Mr. Imran Ilyas, a former councilor in the village of Jhedowan UC Mahta Jhedu, has long been dedicated to advocating for the rights and well-being of his community. Through his involvement in a training session organized by the MOJAZ Foundation, Mr. Ilyas gained valuable insights into human rights, women’s rights, and gender-based violence, which deepened his commitment to education. The training emphasized that educating girls is not just a personal achievement but a collective responsibility, one that can break the cycle of poverty and create lasting change. This realization fueled his passion for empowering young girls in his community, including one special case that he encountered—Sonia Sadeeq.
Sonia, a ten-year-old girl from a financially struggling family, had been unable to attend school due to her family’s circumstances. After hearing her story during the training, Mr. Ilyas took it upon himself to ensure Sonia’s right to education. He personally approached her father, convinced him of the importance of enrolling Sonia in school, and successfully facilitated her enrollment in a local government girls’ school. Additionally, Mr. Ilyas provided Sonia with all the necessary supplies—school bags, stationery, books, and a uniform—so she could begin her educational journey with confidence and support.

Sonia’s life has since transformed thanks to the unwavering support from Mr. Ilyas and the MOJAZ Foundation. Sonia is now thriving in her studies, and her family is deeply grateful for the opportunities provided. This success story stands as a testament to the power of community support in overcoming barriers to education. Mr. Ilyas hopes that by sharing Sonia’s journey, others will be inspired to take similar actions to advocate for girls’ education, ensuring that every child has access to the transformative power of learning.
